A Cancer Diagnosis Was Never Expected
Andrew has always loved sports. He has played since he was 2 years old and wants to be a professional soccer player when he grows up.
So, when his mother noticed him struggling on the basketball court, she knew something was wrong.
At first, she thought it was symptoms of asthma. Andrew’s pediatrician recommended he use his inhaler 15 minutes before practice, but that didn’t seem to help.
During a second visit to the pediatrician, Andrew began crying when the doctor asked him to do jumping jacks. He complained that it was hard for him to breathe, his heartrate was high and his skin had a yellow tone to it.
his phase of treatment will last about two years and includes daily oral chemo pills and monthly infusion chemotherapy in the clinic with check-ups to monitor the disease.
“Children’s has been amazing,” Stephanie adds. “From helping us cope with this diagnosis to answering my millions of questions, they have been there for us and made us feel like we weren’t going through this alone.”
